Autumn has begun; the season when nature lets go of growth and bloom and we can harvest. Autumn is a great time to look at the seeds we planted this year. Have they grown to full maturity and are you now reaping the benefits? Have they been blown away in the wind because you didn’t pay attention to them? Maybe they have been eaten by a bird and serve life that way. Or they are stored waiting for a better time to grow.
When I look at the seeds I planted this year, I see that I don’t know yet how some seeds will turn out. And that others have withered in the ground. But seeds also have matured: I have taken the first steps as an independent entrepreneur and started my company ‘Jouw dans’ (Your dance) and I have given dance lessons for charity. You can read more about that later in this newsletter.
Autumn dance
To celebrate autumn, there is an autumn-dance on October 18th in the Amsterdamse Bos. Rain or shine, we dance with the elements. And afterwards there is a cup of vegetarian soup for those who want (under an umbrella if necessary). Practical information about the autumn dance can be found at the bottom of the newsletter or on my site: www.jouwdans.com in the Agenda.
Results fundraising dances
Thank you! Thank you for coming to dance and contributing to the charities ‘Pax for Peace’ and the Wadden Society. And thank you for the contributions apart from the dancing! It was wonderful to be able to dance together for peace and for nature. My target amount was 700 euros and we more than achieved that, even after paying the rent of the venue. Coming summer I will dance at the Summer Long Dance (the fundraising event of Movement Medicine) and I will take your donations and my gratitude with me into my heart and into the dance.
Dance and healing
In an in-depth one-year training at Movement Medicine, I learned a lot about the healing qualities of dance. And how dance can help us process traumatic experiences and accept our dark sides and our light sides.* The shamanic year-training I followed helps me to combine dance and healing in mini-workshops. The dance with the energy of the earth and the energy of the sun was the first mini-workshop. “The dance brought me closer to myself,” said a dancer afterwards.

Element dance and mini-workshop Yin and Yang
In the coming period I will organize two dances inside: A dance along the elements on October 25 and a mini-workshop on November 8. The mini-workshop is about dancing with Yin and Yang; with feminine and masculine energy and the combination of the two in Yung. Both dances take place at Dansschool Kluver in Amsterdam. There is a beautiful wooden floor to dance on! More practical information can be found at the bottom of the newsletter or on my site: www.jouwdans.com in the Agenda.
Outdoor dancing
On nice days I will organize irregular outdoor dances. I announce them on Signal and Whatsapp. If you want to join one of these app-groups, please send me a message at (06)41057339. Some dances will be full 2-hour “Dances with the elements”. Other dances last an hour and have more accessible music. With these last dances I hope to give people who walk by and are curious the opportunity to experience how liberating and profound dancing can be.
Hope to see you on the dance floor,
love Marije

We gather at 10.00 am at the parking lot at the Wagener Stadium, Nieuwe Kalfjeslaan 19A in Amstelveen (blue stripe, 4 hours of free parking and enough space for those who come by car). At 10.10 am we dance into the Amsterdamse Bos. We don’t stay in 1 place, so make sure you are on time. At 11.45 am at the latest we are back at the parking lot.
I have a limited number of headphones and the soup has to be made in advance. So it is useful if you sign up in advance. This can be done by sending me an app (06-41057339) or email (info@jouwdans.nl) or by signing up via Hipsy (search for ‘Jouw dans’). The dance costs 16 euros including soup.

* I am not a therapist. In the case of severe psychological problems, it is better to find a trained healthcare professional. Dance can be supportive in the recovery process.
